New adventures

Today one of my best friends got to welcome to the world her newest son. He is awesome. I love him. We have texted, he knows I'm his favorite. He is also a genius. I know this because at six hours old he can say "I love you Aunt Steph".

Also, Sydney went back to the the baby sitter's house today. This was sad for me, but she did great. At least she did great until she decided she no longer liked to wear diapers. Since she decided this, she took her pants and diaper off, twice, at nap time. When she got home this continued. She kept trying to get her diaper off again without being stopped. When this girl sets her mind to something, that is just the way it is gonna be... This must come from Steve's side of the family. Needless to say we are now potty training and she went pee pee in the potty for the first time!

Family Rules

It is definitely not perfect, but we are very pleased with it and enjoy having our rules up. I am sure there will be rules added and a new version created with milder colors when we move. For now it does the job.

Spring Cleaning

This is the first year we have taken part in spring cleaning. I am purging the entire apartment. Well, I am making piles of goodwill, dump, and so on while Steve is going through the exercise of actually moving everything out. This is really hard work considering it hasn't been done this thoroughly in five years. It was probably not the smartest idea to start this project during the week, but it will be worth it when we are done. Sydney has been such a big helper too. I keep trying to throw ecerything out and she keeps falling in love with "new" objects. So we compromised and she is getting to keep this mat.

At least until her play mat gets here...
We are rewarding ourselves by creating a grownup room. The rest of our place is kid friendly and overtaken by toys. By next week Steve will have his podcasting studio and I will finally have my wii room!

Weekend off

After a very hectic March, I actually had a weekend off. I had great intentions of rest and cleaning. Instead, I ended up playing, watching Netflix, grocery shopping, cooking, and then working on our family rules. I sent out to the craft store for round cake pans. Since I am not artsy or crafty this should not have been an issue. This is what I came home with

I found the items on sale and figured I should give the project a shot. So far we have come up with this

(they are just laid out on the floor and are not attached to each other yet)

We will be going back this week for the frame that is on sale 50% off, and on top of that we have a 40% off coupon. This brings the 24"x36" frame down to a steal. Let's just hope when we go back for the frame I am not sucked into another project!

Weekend Recap

Friday the weather was beautiful and when we got home from work Steve suggested taking Sydney to swing. There is a playground across the street. She had no fear.

Saturday after Steve let me sleep in and cleaned the kitchen, he took my car to get inspected. We got a phone call to let us know that the car failed inspection, would be expensive to fix, and the part would not be in until Wednesday. We found this out while our sweet girl was screaming because her gums hurt. She was flinging jello, not interested in the Fresh Beats (if you know my daughter you know this is an issue) and just an unhappy baby. The only thing that stopped the crying was being outside, and Tylenol. Steve and I ended up discussing what to do about the car through the screen door. Because if the door was open Sydney thought she was going back inside and lost it again. Fun times!

Sunday was a good day. Sydney and I let Steve sleep while we went to Wal-Mart for groceries. Then hung out and had a lazy day of cleaning and folding clothes. As you may notice...I did not work this weekend!! It was wonderful, even if I am paying for it now. But hanging out with this girl...

...totally worth it!
